Groundforce Easiform have been assisting in the construction of a much needed care home in Lancashire. Stocks Hall Care Homes Ltdare building a residential unit in St Helens, which upon its completion will provide places for 52 young disabled persons.
Stocks are both the client and main contractor on what is their fifth care home. The building incorporated a large basement which required the construction of in-situ concrete walls. Stocks had previous experience of constructing a basement using a double skin of block work with a concrete fill. This had proved to be a slow process and they were keen to reduce the construction program on the St Helens site.
To assist in this Groundforce Easiform designed a solution using their class leading Frami system. The design called for the construction of the basement in two pours and with a formwork height of 3.6m. Easiform supplied approximately 375m2 of formwork panels and this was erected in only 3 days! The entire basement was cast and the formwork returned within a two week period.
Gareth Jones of Stocks said “This is a superb system to use. We had no prior experience of using this type of shuttering but it proved simple and quick to put together. We were able to significantly reduce the time taken to build the basement and the concrete finish was excellent”
Groundforce Easiform are proud to be associated with a scheme which will help to provide an enhanced quality of life to young disabled persons from the North-West.
