The past 12 months has been somewhat of a roller coaster ride, the decision was made during the acquisition of ESS to study all sides of both operations before deciding on which route to take the newly formed business. Employees from both ESS & Safeforce shared the same drive & commitment towards providing an excellent level of service, albeit towards different sectors of market place. ESS had always been at the forefront of equipment sales & confined space training and Safeforce was recognised as the specialist hire provider with a dedicated technical department to ensure that both our customers equipment and our own hire fleet operated to highest standards, It became apparent that ESS Safeforce could now dominate every aspect of the confined space market place.
ESS Safeforce Hire
The Hire operation currently consists of specialist depots at Coatbridge, Warrington, Leeds, West Bromwich, Wellingborough, Heathrow, and Brentwood. Each Depot is staffed with skilled technicians capable of assisting with the hire requirements of our customers and the new fleet of vehicles ensure that the equipment is delivered to site on time. The scope of the new product offering is that vast that we’ve had to bring the launch of the new catalogue forward by 6 months. We managed to incorporate all the safety equipment needed to work in a confined space without over complicating the hirers decision, what’s more if customer’s aren’t sure they can simply ask. We have the product and industry knowledge to answer any questions that are thrown at us.
ESS Safeforce Rescue & Safety Services
Work in confined spaces kills on average 15 people a year in the UK alone. This situation is not just limited to small niche industry applications but affects a whole host of different industries and applications. There are far more confined spaces than you might imagine.
Safety cover is available for complex plant works right through to the simplest type of operation such as the cleaning of storage vessels. Drainage and pipeline applications for example, are well recognised for the dangers posed by confined space working and in particular, potential oxygen depletion, explosive atmospheres and hydrogen sulphide.
Tragically, those killed in such accidents include people who attempt to rescue others working in the confined space but without the correct training or equipment.However, the ESS Safeforce teams of Confined Space Specialists have a genuine understanding of the issues faced within these challenging environments and are fully conversant with the requirements of the Confined Space Regulations.
Qualified not only to manage and work in confined spaces, but also carry out emergency medical treatment and full rescue. The team provides a complete service, from risk assessment, compiling safe systems of work through to providing on-site management of confined space entry.

ESS Safeforce ‘On-Site Service’
The On-Site Service Division is a fleet of full equipped mobile workshops. Each mobile workshop is equipped with the latest manufacturer approved service equipment, enabling our experienced and fully qualified engineers to service and repair all your safety equipment. Each vehicle is fully stocked with manufacturer approved spares, therefore eliminating any need to remove your equipment from site. A new service offered this year is a ‘twilight service’. Developed primarily for customers whose safety equipment is based on a vehicle fleet, for example utility contractors, On Site can set up their mobile workshop at the customer’s premises ready to receive the equipment as and when the vehicles return in the afternoon / evening. The equipment is then serviced immediately and will be ready to go back on the vehicles later that evening. This service ensures absolutely no down time of equipment.

ESS Safeforce operate the two largest confined space equipment workshops in the UK. We calibrate, service, test and inspect over 29,000 items of equipment each year.
